Bridge Onward Strategic Consulting Inc was established to leverage lived experiences to support the strong development of communities.
We build on decades of proven grassroots community work, law enforcement, and national security experience. The knowledge and experience gained over the years by our founder/CEO have fuelled in him a desire to support communities by empowering them in addressing the everyday challenges they face. True to our name, we develop links between individuals, communities, and organizations to enhance unity, strength, and respect.
We support our clients by providing strategic advice and tailored training to bring creative solutions to complex matters. We create change that matters most to communities to create positive social impact.

ABDUL ABDI
Abdul Abdi is a highly respected Security and Community Engagement Consultant and the Founder and CEO of Bridge Onward Strategic Consulting Inc. With 17 years of distinguished service as a Police Constable with the Ottawa Police Service (OPS), Abdul brings deep expertise in security risk assessment, crisis management, public safety, and community engagement.
Throughout his policing career, Abdul held several key leadership roles, including Acting Sergeant and Coach Officer, where he led frontline teams in high-risk situations and mentored new recruits to uphold the highest standards of law enforcement. He worked with the Ontario Provincial Police Liaison Team, managing large-scale demonstrations and public events with a focus on conflict resolution and crowd safety. His secondment with RCMP National Security involved building critical relationships between national security agencies and Canada’s diverse communities, reinforcing his ability to foster trust in complex environments.
Abdul’s career spans policing, national security, policy development, and youth mentorship. A passionate advocate for inclusive community development, he has worked extensively with schools, nonprofits, and public institutions to empower young people through leadership training and civic engagement. His previous role with the Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa saw him lead mentorship programs for at-risk and marginalized youth, strengthening pathways to success and resilience.
As a consultant, Abdul is recognized for his facilitation and training expertise across sectors. He has led organizational workshops, security professionals training sessions, and leadership programs that center on safety, equity, and social impact. Notably, he served as the lead coordinator for the Government of Alberta’s province-wide Hate Study, engaging stakeholders across sectors and submitting policy recommendations to address hate-motivated crimes and discrimination.
A decorated professional, Abdul is the recipient of numerous accolades, including the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Award (2013). His specialized training includes the RCMP’s National Security Investigators Course, Critical Incident Response, Advanced Patrol Training, and the Operational Leadership Program. He holds a degree in Political Science from the University of Ottawa and is a graduate of the Ontario Police College. Fluent in English, Somali, and Swahili, he operates across Canada’s public, private, and nonprofit sectors.
Through Bridge Onward Strategic Consulting, Abdul continues to advise organizations on security risk, public safety strategy, leadership development, and inclusive opportunities initiatives—helping to build safer, stronger, and more resilient communities.
